History
In 1958, the French Ministry of Agriculture decided to set up a technical centre in Antony.
In 1963, this technical centre was fitted with cold chain testing facilities including 1 tunnel for carriage equipment, and cells for the products and equipment used in the cold chain.
The tests performed, the research and expertise developed in Antony enabled quality equipment to be developed by a large number of French companies. This work also contributed to the setting up of the French rules and regulations, then served as input to the United Nations discussions which led to the signing of the ATP in 1970. These facilities have been constantly upgraded since that time to meet the requirements of expertise research and testing for cold chain industrials. A tunnel was built in Bordeaux in 1974, and another one in 1975. In 2000, the testing facilities and the expertise capabilities of Cemagref served as the foundations of the GIE Cemafroid. In 2003 the Certification activity was created. In 2005, a new Management team was appointed. In 2006 the testing of units and recorders were resumed, and a calibration activity was created.
